McKinsey & Company Day of Service at NLU
On December 3, 2021, six volunteers from McKinsey & Company’s Chicago office joined us to help assemble medical supply kits for students in NLU’s Accelerate U medical assistant certification program. Each student received a kit containing a stethoscope, thermometer, gloves and other supplies, which they will use during their training. NLU is grateful for McKinsey and its Day of Service, which enabled these employees to volunteer their time.

About Accelerate U at NLU: Accelerate U is a new division of National Louis University dedicated to workforce training for local, upwardly-mobile jobs and careers. Accelerate U provides opportunities for students to gain certification for a high-demand profession, participate in a four-week externship, and ultimately secure full-time employment. The program works closely with employer partners to build affordable academic and training pathways that lead to an industry-recognized credential in three to six months, bridge to an in-demand job, focus on technical and professional/”soft” skill development, include NLU coaching, wraparound supports, and career counseling, and allow participants to earn up to 30 college credits that can build to a bachelor’s degree. In this way, the program aims to transform the journey from classroom to career, a "jobs-first" higher education for today's eager learners who will lead the workforce of tomorrow.
