Tap into the insights of National Louis faculty members and university leadership for expert commentary on current events and topics of the moment. Whether it be an acclaimed faculty member from one of our five colleges, or one of our forward-thinking university leaders, NLU experts can address a wide range of issues at the forefront of the national conversation. These include, but are not limited to:
- The changing nature of secondary and higher education in a post-pandemic world, and the need for new educational models to meet the demands of the future;
- The shortcomings of our traditional educational system for historically marginalized populations, and the transformative impact of equity-minded approaches and policies on educational outcomes;
- The response and rapid adaptation of the restaurant and hospitality industries to the covid-19 era;
- How educational institutions can adjust curriculums and programming to better alleviate social ills like chronic inequality and racial disparities in educational outcomes, particularly in urban settings.
Some recent stories featuring our faculty and staff include: commentary on parenting tips for children returning to the classroom after a fully remote year, as well as for those experiencing “learning loss” from remote learning conditions; the value of racial diversity in school curricula and among instructors; the proper place of standardized tests as evaluative measures, especially following the unprecedented disruptions of covid-19; and the question of rising student loan debt, to name only a few.
Faculty and staff leaders have recently authored opinion articles on topics such as the fraying link between higher education and employment, the negative effects of the U.S. Department of Education’s changing federal aid application process for students from minority backgrounds, and the financial measures universities can take to weather adverse, unexpected events.
