Congratulations to NLU's 2022 Lincoln Laureate, Edward Gomez

Hello all! My name is Edward Gomez (He/Him/El) and I am currently a senior at National Louis University studying Communications and Marketing. I truly enjoy learning about the world of Communications, in fact some of my favorite classes have been my COMMS classes. My love for Communications also extends outside of the classroom. I am a Publication Manager for the Communications Quarterly magazine at NLU. Communications is not something I ever really thought I would do when I was a kid but learning more about it at NLU has really allowed me to decide that it is exactly what I want to do for my career.

I was born here in Chicago, but both my parents are from Mexico. Being Latinx is something I am very proud of. My culture and “Latinidad” is something I try to incorporate in almost everything I do. I am also a first-generation student. In fact, once I graduate, I will be the first person in my family to get their bachelor’s degree. My plan for the future is to graduate, spend some years working in the Communications field, seeing what skills and experiences I can gain. After a couple of years, I hope to go back to school to get my master’s degree. I don’t really have a dream job of sorts. I just hope to be working in a place that I enjoy.

When I am not in class or work, I am usually doing some extracurriculars around the school. I am the President of the ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America) NLU Chapter. I am also a part of both the SAC (Student Advisory Committee) and the CAB (Campus Activities Board). When I am not doing something school related, I usually spend my days playing videogames, reading books, watching movies or tv shows, and spending time with family and friends.
