About the Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Master of Business Administration program prepares you to make an impact in your organization and community as an inclusive, creative business leader. You will cultivate your own unique leadership style and learn how to solve complex business problems through the strategic integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and by incorporating and inspiring creativity in the workplace. Through collaborative, hands-on learning you will build your business acumen, sharpen your critical thinking skills, enhance your communication skills, and put your ideas into action. Additionally, you will expand your network through collaborative partnerships, business mentors, guest speakers and partner programming.

Curriculum

The program requires 36 semester hours for completion. 

 

What You Will Learn in the Program

  • Leadership styles that inspire teams and create diverse, inclusive, work environments that cultivate creative collaboration and problem-solving.
  • How to solve real-world problems through hands-on projects and experiential learning
  • Concepts, theories, and practices in business that inform strategic decision-making, such as change management, storytelling & marketing, finance, accounting, and international management
  • Strategic decision-making, creativity, teamwork, analytical skills, oral presentation, and writing skills

Career Outlook

The coronavirus pandemic has transformed the way organizations function, from remote working situations to changing consumer needs. Businesses are seeking leaders who are able to adapt, find creative solutions to problems, understand a broad range of managerial and organizational skills, and employ communication and teamwork to create inclusive work environments.

The Graduate Management Admission Council’s Corporate Recruiters Survey 2021 indicates positive hiring trends for MBA graduates. This demand in talent is due to businesses recovering from the pandemic and rebuilding their workforces. Additionally, the median starting salary of an MBA graduate is $115,000 -- 77% higher than those with a bachelor’s degree alone.

New Application Requirements

Written Statement of Academic and Professional Goals (850 - 1200 words)

Submit a written statement addressing 1) one of the three questions below and 2) your academic and professional goals and how the MBA program will assist you in reaching these goals.

  • Reflect on a time when you made an impact in a community or organization. What prompted your behavior and what was the outcome.
  • Discuss an achievement, event, or insight that generated a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve using your creative skillset. The problem can be an intellectual challenge, a research question, an ethical issue—something that is important to you. Explain its significance to you and what creative steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
Professional or Academic Letter of Recommendation
  • Minimum of two professional or academic letters of recommendation. They must be written by a source that is able to comment on the candidate's qualifications for graduate business study. Letters should also speak to one or more of the following: candidate’s ability to make a positive impact in their organization or community, their value of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and/or their creative mindset.
