About the Ed.S. in School Psychology: Florida

Our NASP-aligned Florida program is a part time program that includes regular virtual classroom meetings, weekend residencies for supervised practice of skills, on site experience based learning, and practicum experiences that culminate in a full time school psychology internship in a school setting. The Ed. S. in school psychology degree program has been designed to educate and train students so that they may be able to function effectively as school psychologists.

To ensure that students are prepared adequately, the curriculum is designed to provide for meaningful integration of theory, training, and practice. This program emphasizes the development of attitudes, knowledge, and skills essential in the formation of school psychologists who are committed to the ethical provision of quality services.

Faculty are experts in the field of school psychology utilizing their experience to enhance the theoretical framework of the courses in a pragmatic manner. This is an area of critical shortage in our nation, assessment, consultation, and addressing the mental health needs of students and families are all part of working as a school psychologist.

Choose NLU’s Ed. S. in School Psychology: Florida program if you want to:

  • Learn evidence-based, functional assessment and intervention practices with an ecological focus

  • Integrate the scientist-practitioner model and be prepared for a career as a school psychologist in a school or other educational setting

  • Assume leadership positions within a school system

  • Work with professionals from other disciplines as part of an effectively functioning team within a school district

  • Broaden your scope of practice and employment potential

*This program is offered in our Low Residency format.

The National Louis University Low Residency approach provides learners in select programs with the convenience of online learning and the opportunity to meet occasionally with their classmates and professors, as well as with community members to engage in networking, team building, and high-impact instruction. Low Residency programs are essentially fully online programs paired with integral, intentional, and structured in-person learning events (residencies).

Those residencies are used to help learners build their professional identities, expand their networks, and to engage in peer-based learning in flexible and creative ways, all built around their online course offering.  Programs offered in this unique format are designed for working professionals and/or those learners whose schedules might not permit them the option of meeting face-to-face for the entire program and/or those that value the flexibility of online courses, but also place importance on in-person learning.

Residency frequency and location vary by program, please click the curriculum link below for details.
