About the B.A. in Marketing

Our Bachelor of Arts in Marketing degree program prepares you to achieve success in the exciting field of contemporary marketing. The Marketing program provides you with the skill sets necessary for careers in the following areas: digital marketing and advertising, market research, event marketing, corporate and nonprofit marketing, branding, campaign design and execution, print and online marketing, social media marketing, sales, copywriting, small business marketing, and more—across a mix of B2B and B2C initiatives. The Marketing program also provides a foundation for graduate studies in marketing, business administration, management, communication, media, fine arts, and public relations.

Shape your degree to meet your interests and professional goals by choosing from courses in branding, content creation, social media, and consumer behavior, as well as pairing your degree with a minor, such as our popular Communication minor or Business Administration minor.

Flexible Class Options

Choose from multiple different modalities to fit your coursework around your schedule, including campus-based, blended, and an accelerated online option with condensed six-week terms (normally 12 weeks).

A Unique Hands-On Approach

NLU’s B.A. in Marketing program is intentionally designed to provide students with a taste of different sub-disciplines within the broad field of marketing. The program employs a hands-on, applied theory and methodology approach, teaching students the newest marketing platforms and techniques in today’s digital landscape. Students will graduate with a variety of new skill sets using programs and approaches commonly sought in entry-to-mid-level fields in marketing.

What You Will Learn

At the completion of the B.A. in Marketing program, students will be able to:

Apply Foundational Knowledge of Marketing and Advertising

Learn the fundamentals of marketing and advertising, including theory and best practices, through both a historical and contemporary lens.

Implement Strategy

Develop expertise in marketing strategy techniques and designing campaigns based on audience and industry analysis. Exercise skills in collecting and evaluating market data to make informed decisions to promote products, services, events, and causes.

Collaborate

Career Outlook

Job prospects are strong for marketing majors. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of advertising, promotions, and marketing managers is projected to grow 10 percent from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations. About 35,300 openings for advertising, promotions, and marketing managers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. A bachelor’s degree is required for most advertising, promotions, and marketing management positions. Due to an increased variety of media platforms, opportunities for bachelor’s degree holders in marketing are projected to increase in the future. According to Payscale.com, some of the highest-paying jobs for marketing majors include global marketing, entrepreneurship marketing, marketing and communications, and advertising—with mid-level salaries averaging $96,900 per annum and senior-level salaries averaging $129,800 per annum.

The undergraduate major in Marketing requires 180 quarter hours, including 60 quarter hours of general education for completion, and a minimum grade of "C" in all major courses. Students may complete a minor or concentration.
