Our founder, the visionary social reformer Elizabeth Harrison, started our institution more than 135 years ago to train women of modest means to transform their home communities through the kindergarten movement. Thus began our mission of preparing talented individuals to lead wherever they come from and aspire to go.

Today, National Louis has more than 10,000 current students and 80,000 living alumni elevating their professions and communities. With locations in the Chicago area and Tampa, Florida, combined with Kendall’s well-established international network of students, NLU is positioned for greater local, national and global impact.

NLU includes the National College of Education, the Graduate School of Business and Leadership, the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, the Undergraduate College, and the Kendall College of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. Students can take advantage of more than 70 programs, including associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in a variety of fields, including education, management, human services, counseling, public policy among others. The addition of culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality management expands the number of professional pathways students may pursue and allows us to prepare graduates for the globally thriving culinary and hospitality sector.
