Our AI Philosophy

This document describes guidelines for the use of AI in the development of learning experiences. We embrace the innovative potential of AI while also emphasizing the importance of ethical responsibility, academic integrity, and personal accountability in its usage.

Conditions for AI Usage

Allowed Usage: AI may be used for research, idea generation, and the initial drafting of course materials such as assignments, rubrics, quizzes, and other course elements. It is permitted as a supplementary tool for enhancing learning and productivity.

Prohibited Usage: AI should not be used for developing courses or components in their entirety, generating misleading or false information, or any activities that violate academic integrity policies.

Warnings and Rules Regarding AI Outputs

Deceptive Data: Course designers must be aware of the AI's potential to generate incorrect or misleading information ('hallucinations'). It is the course designer’s responsibility to critically evaluate and verify AI-generated content.

Reliance on AI: Overreliance on AI for critical thinking tasks or understanding core concepts is discouraged. Course designers are expected to engage actively in the design of course materials.

Accountability for AI Outputs

Course designers are fully responsible for any AI-generated content they publish. This includes ensuring the accuracy, originality, and appropriateness of the content in line with course objectives and academic standards.

Ethical and Responsible Use of AI

We emphasize the importance of using AI ethically and responsibly. Course designers should use AI in a manner that supports the student learning journey without compromising their opportunities for intellectual growth or academic integrity.
