Long Term Care Concentration

NLU's Long Term Care Concentration will add value to your undergraduate degree in health care or related fields, and increase your desirability to employers in Long Term Care administration. It consists of four courses, offered in an online or blended format, which take a practical, applications-oriented approach. The concentration will ready you for licensing by the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). Working as an administrator in this fast-growing profession offers the reward of knowing you are making a difference for residents and patients.

Consider enhancing your degree with a concentration in Long Term Care at National Louis University (NLU) if you:

  • Are ready to advance to a management or administrative role in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, assisted living or long term care facility.
  • Seek to understand developing trends, and remain an expert, in this quickly-evolving health care sector.
  • Desire to learn the specifics of management in the Long Term Care environment, including leadership, human resources, financial management, regulation, quality, resident services and resident-centered care.

  • Need the knowledge base to respond within the regulatory and legal framework governing long term care, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities and rehabilitation centers.

The employment forecast for long term care administrators is robust.

Our nation is already seeing tremendous growth in Long Term Care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers and assisted living facilities. Demographic trends indicate a heightened demand for administrators in this field over the coming decades.

NLU's Long Term Care concentration will prepare you to lead and familiarize you with the Long Term Care environment. It will also address the subject areas covered by the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). These areas include: residence service management, human resources management, leadership and governance, physical environment management and financial management.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts employment of medical and health services managers to grow by 32 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations.
