Lauren Anderson

Assistant Professor, Developmental Education

Lauren Anderson is the Assistant Professor of Developmental Education for the Undergraduate College. In her role at National Louis, she will help students gain the academic language needed to thrive in college. She is excited to join a team that is focused on offering access and equity in higher education.

Lauren recently returned from a year in Riga, Latvia where she served as the English Language Fellow for the U.S. State Department. Previously, she taught ABE English and Spanish at Fox Valley Technical College in Wisconsin and trained teachers at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Her career began in K-12 teaching as a classroom teacher in Spanish immersion classroom and has also included working as an instructional coach. She earned her Master’s in Education in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Outside of work, Lauren spends time with her family which includes her husband and three kids. She spends as much time outdoors as possible. As a fan of the arts, she welcomes and takes into serious consideration all recommendations for books, movies, shows, music, food and art.
