Biography:
Joan VanderSchaaf holds her Doctorate of Counselor Education & Supervision and has dual clinical licensure in the states of Illinois and Florida. As an Assistant Professor of Counseling at National Louis University, Chicago, she teaches a variety of core counseling classes. Dr. VanderSchaaf maintains her private practice in Wheaton, Illinois and her Florida clients via distance counseling. She works with individuals, couples, and groups, specializing in chronic mental illness, mood disorders, and relationship issues. Dr. VanderSchaaf uses a psychodynamic approach along with a biopsychosocial treatment model. A veteran yoga instructor, she completed her doctoral dissertation Integrating Yoga & Psychotherapy.
