Mastering Social-Emotional Awareness

Students in doorway

P.A.C.E. at NLU provides a real world arena in a vibrant city setting for our students to explore, experience and expand into a life lived independently. Our supportive community- based apartment style living allows students to develop mastery in increasing social-emotional awareness. Interactions are viewed from the lens of a contributing adult with growth potential in Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision Making.

A scaffolding approach to instruction enables students to be better prepared for the level of independence needed to live on their own. A balance of work and fun are important in how we approach working with our students. As a result, they develop an active social calendar filled with planned community clubs and activities. These structured opportunities set the stage for creating new relationships and some social development fun!

P.A.C.E. students are held to high standards as they begin creating their own community for the future. Our P.A.C.E. Ahead and Beyond services offer alumni customized support in independent living skills, employment and social offerings.
