FL Commencement: Frequently Asked Questions

All participants must complete a diploma and degree finalization to graduate and participate in commencement. All degree finalization requests must be received by July 31, 2021 (2021 deadline only)  if planning on participating in commencement.

This request will begin your diploma finalization process AND also allow you to register for the commencement ceremony at your campus.

If you did not receive a confirmation email, are not sure whether your form has been received or you have missed the deadline, call the Registrar's Office at 800.366.3623 extension 5718.

To participate in the commencement ceremony, you also must also order a cap and gown from Herff Jones.

There is no cost to participate in the commencement ceremony. NLU provides the ceremony to its students for free. Most universities charge a commencement fee; however, NLU hosts the ceremony as a gift, in celebration of your accomplishment and hard work!

You must purchase your cap and gown from Herff Jones to participate in the commencement ceremony.

You should receive your regalia at your home by ordering through Herff Jones's website: www.herffjones.com/college/nlu. For questions about your cap and gown orders please call Herff Jones’s Customer Service at 800.837.4235, or our Herff Jones representative Reid Olson at 312-315-7057.

If you do not receive your cap and gown by the end of June, please contact Herff Jones Company immediately.

You must wear your regalia to participate in the commencement ceremony. The academic apparel is yours to keep.
