Richard A. Schak
Adjunct Professor and Founding Chair, Criminal Justice Program
Programs/Classes Taught: Courses taught-a combination of criminal justice (CSJ 205, 207, 215, 352, 354, 355, 356, 357, 465, 466), psychology (LAP 205, 206), and human services (HSM 406, 407, 417, 503) courses. I teach both on-ground, hybrid, and online courses.
Areas of Expertise: I have twelve years of experience in corrections starting as a correctional officer, promoting to counselor, casework supervisor, and ultimately an assistant warden. My areas of expertise centers around addictions, juvenile justice, corrections, and criminology.
Biography: I live on the west side of Chicago in the Austin community, I have four young adult children, and I hope to continue working with programs and initiatives that are focused on youth at-risk.
Education: I have associate degrees in addictions and corrections, a bachelor’s degree in human services, a master’s degree in psychology, and I am finishing my dissertation work for a PhD. in community psychology.
