PK-12 Schools & Districts
Build the Teacher Pipeline and Advance Education by Partnering with NLU
Why NLU?
Keeping your district running smoothly is difficult work at the best of times, but NLU is here to be your partner. Whether you need to call upon the assistance of our expert, context-specific teacher preparation residency program, you have hiring needs, or you need endorsements for teachers in high-needs areas, your school district deserves passionate, professional expertise.
Building & Advancing Your Teacher Pipeline
For Aspiring Teachers
NLU co-develops pathways to build a pipeline of diverse, highly effective new teachers that meet learner needs. Such pathways include:
- Dual credit opportunities for high school students to earn college level credit
- Seamless 2+2 agreements with community colleges for those with an AA degree
- Observation, practicum, and student teaching placements for candidates to develop through PK-12 classroom experience
- Year-long teacher residencies and two year alternative licensure programs to advance your paraprofessionals and other staff
- Grant-funded programming for high need areas like early childhood educator licensure, Gateways credentials, and multilingual educators
For Advancing Educators
From teacher leaders to principals and superintendents, we collaborate with administrators to create partner-specific program cohorts designed to meet the specific needs of the district and its learners. Join forces with your Regional Office of Education or nearby districts to create a combined group, learn from one another and support the needs of your shared communities together.
We partner with the Illinois Resource Center to provide ESL/Bilingual Endorsement courses to educators online in the Chicagoland suburbs.
Be sure to check out NLU’s McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership and Reading Recovery Center high quality, in-demand professional development trainings too!
