What are the eligibility requirements?

NSLS membership is by invitation only; invitations are mailed to eligible NLU students twice per academic year, during early fall and early winter.

Eligibility is based on GPA and credit hours criteria:

  • Undergraduate students need at least 36 completed credit hours AND a GPA of at least 3.2 be invited.
  • Graduate students needs at least 18 completed credit hours AND a GPA of at least 3.5 to be invited.
  • Only those credit hours completed at NLU are considered for invitation purposes, transfer credits do not apply.

Unlike honor societies based solely on academic performance, membership in the NSLS is leadership-based, and thus requires active participation in various Society events on campus. Registered members are considered pending members until they complete all the components of the NSLS program, after which they earn lifetime induction into the Society. Workshop series are offered online.

An annual induction ceremony recognizing those members who complete all 8 required Society workshops is held each May/June.

If you are a registered member, check out our events calendar for Chapter Events at nsls.org, Chapter Events. For more information, please contact the Advisors at nsls@nl.edu.
