Remote Learning

To differentiate between emergency remote learning that was put in place during the height of the COVID-19 crisis, NLU has rebranded remote learning as “virtual classroom”.  When this option is available for a class, students will learn via web conferencing technologies and intentional lesson planning and instruction, specifically suited for this type of learning environment.  Depending on your class and program, a full virtual classroom option may be available, or a hybrid schedule blending virtual classroom and online or on-campus learning experiences may be offered to you.  No matter the option, though, the virtual classroom is a rich, engaging, and meaningful set of learning experiences specifically designed for learning from afar and designed in a way that encourages active learning and mastery of the subject-matter.  In other words, the virtual classroom is truly an extension of all the great learning that NLU has provided in the physical classroom for over 100 years!

Students

For students who are new to the virtual classroom or who are interested in how to leverage the power of this learning environment, please access D2L to review INT102 and be sure to attend the first day of class (virtually, of course!) to learn about the expectations of attendance and participation, as well as how to access student support services, as needed.  If you are new to virtual or online learning, in general, and/or a loved one has questions about what this type of learning looks like, please visit: Starting College as an Online Learning (Link to https://onlinelearning.nl.edu/). Additionally, for the virtual classroom, NLU makes use of Zoom and Desire to Learn (D2L) as tools to facilitate your virtual learning experience.
