Student Information

Whether you are enrolled in a full, or low residency program, a return to in-person instruction – or a visit to campus - helps to ensure a rich academic experience and vibrant campus environment.

A Vibrant Student Experience

Whether in person, on-line, or a combination of both, our Division of Student Affairs is dedicated to building a vibrant student experience, starting with a full slate of activities for Welcome Week activities and ongoing campus and remote events throughout the term! Be sure to get the most of your Eagle Life student experience by downloading NLU'S student involvement platform available on Apple or Play store.

Course Delivery

Courses are designated as on-campus, online, or virtual classroom. Information about how your course will meet can be found on the "view registration information" section of the My Services feature on the NLU Portal (sign in required).

  • ON-CAMPUS: These class sessions meet face-to-face at a physical location for the term on the specified day(s) and times published in the academic schedule. Direct instruction occurs at the physical location during the designated day(s) and times. This designation includes low residency courses.

  • ONLINE: There are no scheduled class meeting times, and instruction and learning activities are delivered via the learning management system (e.g. D2L). Direct instruction occurs in online, asynchronous activities (e.g. discussion boards, etc.)

  • VIRTUAL CLASSROOM: These courses include online synchronous class meetings with a web conferencing platform (e.g. Zoom) on the specified day(s) and times published in the academic schedule and online asynchronous learning activities (e.g. discussion boards). Direct instruction occurs during online synchronous class meetings and online asynchronous activities.

Temporary Accommodations for COVID-19

While flexible assignment deadlines may sufficiently address students' concerns, students may also request formal accommodations through NLU's ADA services. Students should schedule an intake with their ADA Specialist. Based on CDC Guidance, students can be provided with temporary accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (1973) that typically rage from two – six weeks in duration depending on the severity of their symptoms and directives from their attending physician.

Resident Students at University Center

Due to the congregate living nature of a residence hall, the University Center (UC) will have its own COVID-19 policies, NLU resident students are expected to abide by UC policies.
