CareerBridge

NLU Career Bridge

  • Ensure students are PREPARED to obtain great opportunities through the development of career preparation strategies throughout the institution.
  • CONNECT students to hands-on learning experiences that will grow their knowledge, skills and marketability.
  • BUILD top connections with employer partners to ultimately launch graduates into in-demand, degree-requiring positions, and to promote the upward mobility of our graduates.

NLU Military Scholarship

All military-affiliated students will recieve the NLU Community Heroes Scholarship once the application is completed.

My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA)

The My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Scholarship Program is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of financial assistance to eligible military spouses who are pursuing a license, certification or Associate’s degree in a portable career field and occupation.  

National Military Family Association

NMFA can help fund education, career, or business goals for military spouses.  NMFA awards an average of $500 for career funding and $1000 for degrees. Up to $2500 is available for clinical supervision towards licensure in the mental health profession. Spouses are also eligible for funding, typically $1000, to build their own businesses

American Bar Association
Veterans face a wide array of legal issues created by their unique circumstances. The ABA provides a list of resources designed to provide attorneys and veterans with assistance related to challenges in obtaining medical care, disability benefits, reemployment rights, consumer, housing, criminal and family law matters, and in obtaining legal counsel.

John Marshall Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic (VLSC)
The Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic (VLSC) works on all aspects of Veteran Benefits Administration claims, from the initial, factual intake to the technical representation of claims at the appellate level.

Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN)

Provide top civil legal needs for veterans and families that fall into the broad categories of housing, family, and consumer law issues. In addition, veterans often need assistance with VA benefits and appeals and discharge upgrades.

Road Home Program

The Road Home program provides confidential mental health services for veterans and their families, regardless of ability to pay.

VITAL Program

Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Initiative. 

We strive to enhance academic retention and success through:

  • On-campus clinical care and coordination

  • Improving understanding of Veterans’ unique strengths and challenges through education and training

  • Collaborating with your local VA Medical Center, Veterans Benefits Administration, campus faculty and staff, and community resources.

Up to 6 free sessions with a licensed counselor.  Located on the 14th floor at 122 S. Michigan Ave.

Military Outreach USA

Military Outreach USA is a 501(c)3 not for profit which exists to encourage, engage, educate and equip individuals, houses of worship and organizations throughout the nation to provide a supporting role to our military community. This community is comprised of our military (active duty, guard, and reserves), veterans, and their families who are impacted by the visible and invisible wounds of military service.
