Tremaine N. Leslie, PhD., LPC, NCC

Title: Assistant Professor

 

Tremaine N. Leslie is an Assistant professor at NLU, Tampa, Florida campus. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Arkansas and is also a Licensed professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Arkansas, and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Additionally, she earned two Master’s degrees and a Bachelor’s degree (Mental Health Counseling, Special Education, and Early Childhood Education) respectively, from the Prairie View A & M University in Texas. Dr. Leslie is student-focused in her teaching, employing constructivism and experiential learning in the execution of her content. She takes into consideration the learning styles of her diverse learners, ensuring that the subject matter is presented in ways that incorporate the learners’ experiences. Multiculturalism forms the underpinning of Dr. Leslie’s work, as she subscribes to the notion that all of our human interactions are multicultural interchanges. Her clinical work is focused on reducing stereotypes concerning mental health care and help seeking in minority populations, especially people of African descent. In her spare time, Dr. Leslie enjoys long nature walks, gardening, embroidering, dabbling in genealogy research, and reading for pleasure.
