Christopher Lilly, Ph.D.

Dr. Lilly teaches courses in educational leadership and in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. He believes it is impossible to separate the social significance of student learning from content knowledge and skill development. The mind is not separate from the social group; the content learned in school is not separate from the context in which the student lives. It is through the application of learned knowledge and skill to a specific context that students demonstrate the extent of their education. Further, students demonstrate learning beyond a context by developing meaning for themselves which they can apply to other situations. In this sense, the environment in which one learns is critical to what is learned.

Dr. Lilly is committed to evolving his instruction within adapatable learning modalities. He has developed several programs at the doctoral and masters level and has authored many courses for online instruction. He has Quality Matters training and is heavily involved in the course development process in NCE.

Dr. Lilly earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago, his M.Ed. in Human Development and Learning from DePaul University, and his B.A. in Secondary Education/English from DePaul University.

Dr. Lilly’s career spans over 30 years, during which time he has served as program leader, department chair, and associate dean. In his current role of Director of NCE Online Programming, he commits himself to the academic quality of program design and coaching faculty in the areas of virtual classroom and online instruction.

Dr. Lilly pursues an understanding of how curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technologies intersect. He has published and presented on topics ranging from instructional and literacy coaching to managing organizational change and updating the classroom for the 21^st century.
