Biography:
Geri Palmer, P.D. is a community psychologist, educator, and community consultant, advocate and activist. She is committed to creating college and university learning environments, whether on-ground or online, where students not only excel in their respective studies, but also flourish as actors working toward actualizing a world where social and racial justice is the norm. In addition to teaching at NLU, she also teaches social psychology and community psychology at Adler University in the PsyD Clinical Psychology program. Geri has served as a community practitioner in human services/nonprofit organizations for over two decades and currently consults with various organizations and groups on organizational development, including philanthropy strategies, among other areas.

Research and Interests:
Research and action interests fall under a wide umbrella of social and racial justice linked through the intersection of community psychology, human services and African American socio-economic and political concerns. She is the current Chair of Cultural, Ethnic and Racial Affairs (CERA) -- Council of the Society for Community Research and Action/Division 27 of the American Psychological Association and Co-founder of the Center for Educational Opportunities for Descendants of the African Diaspora (CEODAD). Through the Center, she is set to research the implications of historical trauma relative to African Americans in the fall of 2018. Other work include writing two chapters in edited books including Racial Justice Action Group’s book on coloniality and deconiality, and working on her own book with a colleague.
