Biography: Dr. Christine Brown is a faculty in the Masters in Counseling Program. Christine began her counseling career in 1996 following the completion of her MA in Community Counseling at Chicago State University. She received her LCPC license from the State of Illinois in 2001 and has practiced in community mental health for the past 17 years. Her experience includes the provision of clinical mental health services with disadvantaged populations, including children, adolescents, families and older adults. Christine has specialized in system theory to address educational, child welfare, juvenile justice and health outcomes for individuals and their families. She is also passionate about preparing future counselors for the field and integrates reflection and multiculturalism to prepare counselors to serve diverse populations.

Christine joined the NLU team as an adjunct professor in August 2017 and has developed a unique pedagogy for engaging graduate students. In May 2017, Christine was awarded the Minority Doctoral Fellowship from the National Board Certified Counselors that supported the completion of her dissertation. Lastly, Christine received her Ed.D in Counselor Education and Supervision in June 2018 from Governors State University, and at the same time joined the College full-time as an Assistant Professor

Christine is a native of Chicago where she continues to live and serve. She has been married for 25 years with two children ages 19 and 24. She enjoys spending time with her family, church, traveling, reading and serving as an advocate supporting access to mental health services in Chicago and abroad.
